From Healing to Purpose: Amanda Yik’s Journey into Forest Therapy

In this powerful highlight from Echoes Among Trees – Season 1, Episode 3, Amanda Yik shares a deeply personal story of resilience, healing, and transformation. As a certified forest bathing and forest therapy guide, Amanda’s path was not planned—it was shaped by her two-year battle with cancer. During her recovery, she discovered something unexpected: a quiet urban park became her sanctuary. Sitting among trees and simply being present offered her a sense of peace and restoration that she couldn’t find elsewhere, planting the first seeds of a new direction in her life.

Following her treatment, Amanda found herself at a crossroads. She could return to her previous career or step into the unknown. Through reflection and prayer, she felt a clear inner calling—to choose a different path where she could support others in their healing journeys. This moment of clarity marked the beginning of a profound shift, guiding her toward something more meaningful and aligned with her experience.

Her discovery of forest therapy felt almost serendipitous. Coming across an article about the practice, Amanda immediately recognized it as something she had intuitively been doing during her recovery. Inspired, she took a bold step and reached out to the global forest therapy community. Despite there being no established guides in Asia at the time, she pursued training abroad and became certified in 2017—joining a small group of pioneers introducing this practice in Hong Kong.

Today, Amanda’s story stands as a testament to how moments of challenge can lead to unexpected purpose.
